iShineWord for the Day
Wednesday, 30 September

A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.” When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.

Today’s word

After the Spirit prevented the journey into two regions, a vision directed attention toward Macedonia. The response included discernment: they concluded that God was calling them to preach the Gospel there, and they prepared to go.

The passage shows that direction includes both restraint and response. The earlier refusals did not end the mission. They were followed by a call that required recognition and willing obedience. Discovering purpose meant remaining attentive as the direction unfolded.

We cannot assume that every closed door in our lives has the same explanation. Some circumstances remain painful and unresolved. Yet we can bring them to God without allowing disappointment to make us unavailable to the responsibilities He places before us now.

As this month closes, consider what God has made clear through His Word, prayer and sound counsel. Is there a conversation, act of service or next faithful step that requires your response? You do not have to rush ahead of discernment or wait until every past hurt has disappeared. Ask for wisdom to recognize the assignment and courage to obey when it is clear. A surrendered heart remains willing to follow, even when the route differs from the one it first imagined.

I declare

I remain attentive to God’s direction and willing to follow His call. I receive discernment to recognize the responsibility He places before me and courage to respond when it is clear. My plans remain surrendered, and I go where He leads with a heart ready to serve.

Prayer

Father, I receive discernment to recognize Your call and humility to test my understanding by Your truth. Keep disappointment from making my heart unavailable to You. When the next responsibility is clear, strengthen my willingness to obey promptly. Lead me into service that reflects Your love and fulfills Your purpose.

Amen.
