The lifter of my head

But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

Psalm 3:3 · WEB
Today’s word

Shame, grief and exhaustion can lower our heads until we see only the ground beneath us. David knew that posture while fleeing betrayal and danger. In the middle of it, he identified God as his protection, his honor and the One who restored his ability to look forward.

A lowered head can express shame, grief or exhaustion. God’s lifting does not require us to ignore what happened. It restores dignity and helps us look beyond the ground beneath our feet. He protects what opposition cannot define.

David’s story also reminds us that complicated consequences can remain even when God is near. Faith is not a guarantee that every relationship or outcome will resolve quickly. It is confidence that trouble does not remove God’s presence or cancel His claim upon our lives.

Bring Him what has caused you to lower your head. Receive correction where it belongs, but refuse shame that God has not spoken. Let Him restore your vision, your courage and your awareness of His protection. The One who shields you is also able to lift you.

I declare

The Lord is my shield, my glory and the lifter of my head. I receive His correction without living under shame, and I look forward with renewed courage.

Prayer

Father, You see the grief, shame or exhaustion that has lowered my head. Correct me where needed and free me from every false sentence against my life. Be my shield, restore my dignity and lift my eyes toward the hope found in You. Establish my heart in Your honor and teach me to walk forward without fear.

Amen.
