“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose confidence is in the LORD. For he will be as a tree planted by the waters, who spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be concerned in the year of drought. It won’t cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7–8 · WEB
Today’s word

Jeremiah compares the person who trusts in the Lord to a tree planted near water. Its strength comes from the source its roots reach, not from the absence of heat or drought. Trust gives the picture its meaning: the heart’s confidence is placed in God.

When visible progress is limited, we may assume that nothing valuable is happening. Yet growth in faith, character and endurance is not always immediately apparent. A season of waiting can become an opportunity to deepen the practices and relationships that keep us grounded in Him.

Stillness alone does not guarantee growth. We remain responsible to attend to God’s Word, respond to His correction and receive what nourishes our spiritual lives. The question is not simply whether we are moving, but where our confidence is rooted.

Today, examine the source you have been depending on. Return to prayer and Scripture where those rhythms have become neglected. Ask God to deepen your trust rather than merely increase visible activity. You do not have to manufacture fruit to prove that you are growing. Stay attentive to the One who sustains you, and let faithful dependence shape the life that flows from you.

I declare

My confidence is rooted in the Lord. I remain attentive to His Word and responsive to His transforming work. I receive grace to grow in hidden places and to bear fruit through faithful dependence on Him rather than the pressure to appear productive.

Prayer

Father, deepen the roots of my trust in You. Reveal where I have depended on recognition, activity or circumstances for security. Restore the rhythms that nourish my faith and help me respond to Your correction. Let the life You sustain within me bear fruit that reflects Your character.

Amen.
